American Jews in the New Millennium

By Jonathan D. Sarna

AltaMira Press, 2003

The author points to four transformations affecting American Jewry in the 21st century and then describes three areas of uncertainty concerning the community's future. These are all areas in which the evidence is not yet in, visions are contested, and the future is being shaped (even as we speak) by the actions of contemporary American Jews. As we look ahead into the 21st century, these are some of the challenges that the Jewish community confronts.
