Individualism and Pluralism Limited

Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI), September 1994

This editorial reacts to the massacre of twenty-nine Arabs in Hebron's Cave of the Patriarchs, at the hands of Dr. Baruch Goldstein in February 1994. The editor sees this occasion as a great failure of Jewish education, and claims that the pluralistic acceptance of fundamentalist Jewish conceptions must be limited. He also addresses the issue of individualism vs. collective identity, and offers that these should always be kept in a dialectical balance.
