Ben-Gamla School: An Inside Look

By Linda Schaffzin

Winter 2010

Linda Schaffzin shares observations following a visit to the first Hebrew charter school, the Ben-Gamla School in Broward County, Florida, which opened in 2007. She includes background information on charter schools generally, and compares the Ben-Gamla model to Jewish (parochial) day schools. Day schools and charter are clearly two different products, she finds; families must decide which one is most appropriate for their educational values and goals.
