Making It Relevant

By David Zisenwine

World Zionist Organization (WZO), 1979

The author of this article, a teacher at the School of Education of Tel Aviv University, describes the many limited attempts of forming Israeli educational programs that confront the problem of Jewish identity in Israel. Of all the programs presented in this article, the author holds Giv’at Brenner’s high school educational program to be the only real attempt to build a full scale curriculum that honestly engages the Jewish sources in order to form a modern-day Israeli Jewish identity.
