Australia ended 2002 with a thriving economy and with a highly popular government with the rise of the Greens, an influential minority party, and the fall of the Labor Party. Australia took a leading role in assisting the Indonesian investigative team after a tragic terrorist attack in Bali, which killed 88 Australians.
