From the Editor July August 1985

By Leonard Fein

Moment Magazine, 1985

A discussion by Editor Leonard Fein of some of the topics and news of note contained in this month's Moment Magazine. In this Issue, Fein interviews and profiles a new generation of American rabbis and their hopes, fears and religious inspirations. Unfortunately, an increasingly acrimonious divide between Orthodox Judaism and the rest of the faith prevents Moment from profiling any Orthodox rabbis. Also, Fein discusses a previous proposal for a new movement of Jewish charitable giving and how to divide support between Jewish and non-Jewish communities.

Topic: Diaspora Relations, Israel-Diaspora Relations, Masorti Judaism, Religious Observance, Rabbinate, Orthodox Judaism, Jewish Identification, Conservative Judaism, Religious Denominations, Community Building
