Israeliness of Judaism-- Must we choose one?

By Leonard Fein

American Jewish Committee (AJC), 2006

Leonard Fein reflects on the claims of Avraham Yehoshua, playwright and Israeli Dove who believes that Jewishness and Israeliness are so entwined that one cannot be a true Jew in America, only in Israel. Fein passionately disagrees with Yehoshua's fundamental definition of Jewishness and warns of the eschatological irony that Yehoshua's Zionism could rend apart the global Jewish Community more then the Diaspora and the Shoah could.
