The theme of this issue is Women of Valor in honor of Women's History Month. The first articles, by Barbara Dobkin and Shira Milgrom, focus on the portrayal of women in the story of Esther. Bella Azbug, Barbara Myerhoff and Bobbie Rosenfeld, this year's Women of Valor, are each presented in a different way. Bella Azbug is honored through an exploration of her courageous act of saying kaddish for her father at the age of 13. Barbara Myerhoff is remembered by a former student and scholar, Riv Ellen Prell. Bobbie Rosenfeld, a pioneering female athlete, is celebrated through an interview with a contemporary Jewish woman boxer who is carrying on Rosenfeld's legacy. The issues also discusses a variety of approaches for preserving, transmitting and continuing the legacy of these women, such as funding the preservation of women's history or incorporating women's history into everyday life. The changemaker profiles feature Prudence Steiner, a member of the board of the Jewish Women's Archive, and Anna Friedman, an eighth grade student at the Krieger Schechter Day School in Baltimore.
