Freezing Progress, Not Settlements

What to make of America's insistence on an end to Israel's building of settlements in the West Bank and Israel's determined refusal to comply? If Obama can convince Netanyahu to commit to some reduction in the settlements, it would actually represent progress. But while Palestinians want a settlement without negotiation while the Israelis want negotiation without a settlement, perhaps all that has happened is America has become a third player in an increasingly fruitless game, a game with no winners.
