What Haiti Requires of Us

In the immediate aftermath of the devastating earthquake in Haiti, the massive outpouring of charitable donations, nearly half a billion dollars, is impressive and encouraging. But what Haiti truly needs is not just voyeuristic philanthropists, in it for the fleeting thrill, but rather sustained engagement with the moral imperative to help build something noble from the ruins. That commitment is what it means to truly pursue justice.
