Revisiting Auschwitz

By Leonard Fein

Forward Association, 2011

The experience of Auschwitz and the brutality that lead up to it were all elements in a program of dehumanization that became quite routine. Millions of visitors to Auschwitz and holocaust exhibits around the world ask how this possibly could have happened, and then go home and ignore genocides in Rwanda, in Darfur, in Yugoslavia. It is not enough to learn about tragedy, but rather the world must learn that the battle against dehumanization must be waged every day, everywhere.
