Why Labor Issues Are Jewish Issues

By Leonard Fein

Forward Association, 2011

As Governor Scott Walker neuters the public unions of Wisconsin, the Jewish organizations of the state say nothing. But make no mistake, labor is a Jewish issue. It is a Jewish issue because Jewish texts and teachings on worker rights are strikingly and unambiguously progressive. It is a Jewish issue because of Sam Gompers and David Dubinsky and a host of others who have played central roles in America's labor history. It is, finally, a Jewish issue because justice is everywhere and always a Jewish issue.
