The Israeli People, With a Capital 'P,' Demand Social Justice

By Leonard Fein

Forward Association, 2011

The Hebrew word 'am' does not mean 'people' in the sense of a group of individuals. Rather, it entails collectivity, a single entity, acting as one demanding social justice. There is a revival of classic Zionism, not the Zionism of Meir Kahane and Avigdor Lieberman, but a Zionism that is dedicated to a country repurposed, reinvented, a country of equity and dignity, a country beloved by the protesters.
