Israel and the Jewish World

By Leonard Fein

Forward Association, 1994

If peace in Israel is truly in the cards, how then does the world Jewish community stay connected? For too long, Jewry has depended on new crises to retain a sense of solidarity. That ought to be pushed aside for the understanding that such solidarity is unseemly and ephemeral. Instead communities of the Diaspora must come to know themselves as independent communities, capable of thriving as unique communities, not just resident, but at home in their countries of residence and committed to the pluralism of Judaism and national identity.
