By Shari Cohen

CLAL: the National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership, 1999

The author uses the holiday Sukkot, when Jews traditionally dwell in temporary structures, the recent pre-hurricane evacuation of certain American Southeastern coastal cities, and the flight of residents of Dili, in East Timor, as the basis for reflections on the principle of population relocation as a preemptive response to the threat of violence.
