Jewish Service: A New Option for 21st Century American Judaism

By Ruth Messinger

CLAL: the National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership, May 2002

The author argues that American Jewry must be more active in improving the societal conditions in non-Jewish communities around the world. She holds that this will enrich the Jewish community and redefine the notion of Jewish service. It might also encourage Jews to be more active in their own communities and change the way Jews are perceived around the world.
