The author, editor-in-chief of the Journal of Jewish Communal Service, discusses her experience as a victim of Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. While she had in the past edited many articles concerning issues having a negative impact on individual Jews and the Jewish community, the current issue (addressing crisis response) concerns an issue of which she has firsthand knowledge.
