Grant-making Trusts in the Jewish Sector

By Ernest Schlesinger

Institute for Jewish Policy Research (JPR), 2000

This paper represents the first ever analysis of the giving of money to Jewish causes by grant-making trusts in the United Kingdom. Given the potential importance of grant-making trusts to the Jewish Voluntary sector, the Institute for Jewish Policy Research decided to examine these trusts in greater depth. This paper presents analysis on grant-making trusts' patterns of income and expenditure. The paper concludes with a number of recommendations to help Jewish community organizations address the important policy issues which emerged from the research.
