Cultivate Communal Connection Beyond Organizational Affiliation

By Bethamie Horowitz

Forward Association, August 5, 2005

The author analyzes how the sheer number of Jewish organizations leads to a disconnect and disloyalty between the organization and its Jewish members. The author asserts that individuals must feel a sense of belonging and commitment to their organization, and these organizations must figure out how to raise the upcoming generation with a shared purpose and a notion of a communal obligation. Ultimately, these organizations must find a way to individually connect with their members in order to garner a relationship of loyalty and support.
