We the Individuals

By Bethamie Horowitz

Forward Association, October 14, 2006

Years ago, America was viewed as a nation far superior to Israel in terms of defensive strength and governmental development. However, the way in which each country reacted to monumental national challenges demonstrates that perhaps America should learn from the Israeli government. The author notes how Israel's disengagement from Gaza was carried out smoothly, as Ariel Sharon took responsibility, and was an active force in the process. This is then compared to the failure of the Bush administration to act effectively after hurricane Katrina, with Bush distancing himself from the situation.
