Comment, Journal of Jewish Communal Service, Winter 1961, Bertram Gold

By Bertram H. Gold

Jewish Communal Service Association of North America (JCSA), National Conference of Jewish Communal Service, Winter 1961

The post-World War II Jewish Community Center (JCC) must face the sixties with the dynamism of a new generation rather than the traditions of the thirties. Too many centers have become distracted by new buildings, generic programming, and extensive bureaucracies. Drawing from lessons of effective and innovative social work, Jewish Community Centers can refocus on transmitting essential Jewish values with a supportive and dedicated staff committed to addressing each community's individual needs.
