Fact and Opinion

By Samuel Spiegler

Jewish Communal Service Association of North America (JCSA), National Conference of Jewish Communal Service, Winter 1968

This article presents in brief a miscellaneous sample of happenings in Jewish communities around the world. These include the creation of an ultra-orthodox seminary/technical school, the pioneering of a new synagogue in Rochester based on voluntarism, and a proposed dispute about the population of black Jews in America. An opinion is shared that Arab education in the Middle East is entirely infused with anti-Israel content and that Arab leaders are willing to wait indefinitely to win the ultimate war against Israel. Two contributors share their epistolary exchange about a study published in an earlier issue ("Jewish Social Group Work Students View the Jewish Community Center Field as a Placement and a Career"). Finally, obituaries are published for Cecilia Razofsky and Marvin G. Lerner.
