On the Day of Mourning for Senator Robert F. Kennedy

By Sanford Solender

Jewish Communal Service Association of North America (JCSA), National Conference of Jewish Communal Service, Fall 1968

June 9, 1968 was the national day of mourning for the death of Senator Robert Kennedy. This address, delivered at the Annual Meeting of the National Conference of Jewish Communal Service, highlights not only the personal tragedy of the Senator's assassination but also the national challenges posed by increasing foreign and domestic violence. The Jewish community must respond to these calamities not with hopelessness but with renewed vigor and commitment to its age-old advocacy of social change and progress.
