This paper presents and discusses the data gleaned from a 1968 community sponsored census of the Jews of Sao Paolo, Brazil, a relatively new (in South American terms) but diverse and rapidly growing community. The census, which counted 28,498 individuals, approached almost fifteen thousand addresses and interviewed 9,087 family units to collect information on their socio-economic status, country of origin, education, participation in organized Jewish life, and more.
