The On-Coming Generation and Jewish Communal Service

By Sidney Z. Vincent

Jewish Communal Service Association of North America (JCSA), National Conference of Jewish Communal Service, Fall 1967

Responding to Rabbi Jay Kaufman's presentation entitled "Jewish Identity and the On-Coming Generation" and to three responses by members of that younger generation (all of which precedes this text in the journal), the author discusses the role Jewish communal service professionals can play in proactively addressing the needs of America's young Jews, especially as concerns lowering barriers of age, compensating for a lack of grounding in the Jewish tradition, forging a sturdier link with Jewish education, improving communication, and recruiting for the field.
