Some Observations on the National Conference of Jewish Communal Service

By Morton I. Teicher

Jewish Communal Service Association of North America (JCSA), National Conference of Jewish Communal Service, Fall 1970

In this speech from the Annual Meeting of the National Conference of Jewish Communal Service (NCJCS), Executive Secretary Morton Teicher, offers remarks on the nature of Jewish communal service and on the problems in the field. He argues it is important to focus on "oneness with difference," seeing each service organization as part of the larger whole, focusing on competencies of individual subgroups. To strengthen the profession of Jewish communal service, Jewish communal workers should see themselves as part of a larger profession, and not solely as part of their own, smaller organization.
