This document presents information both autobiographical (i.e. self-reported) and biographical (from third party sources) concerning American Jewish men and women who have achieved prominence in professional life, business, the arts, science, journalism, and public life, as of the Jewish calendar year 5664. Among the most noteworthy names listed are Louis Ginzberg (JTSA); members of the Guggenheim family; Oscar Hammerstein (not specially noteworthy at the time, but whose grandson, Oscar II, would become the famous musical theatre writer); Adolph S. Ochs, publisher of the New York Times; and Solomon Schechter (JTSA).
