The following is a summary of the proceedings of an American Jewish Committee-sponsored Jewish Education Forum dealing with the "Successful Jewish School" held on Monday, June 11th, 1984. The first of three sessions, entitled "Successful Secular School," focused on analyzing and debating Sarah Lightfoot's book The Good High School. The second session, entitled "Four Successful Jewish Supplementary Schools," focused on exploring the characteristics of four successful supplementary schoolsâ?"two communal and two congregational. Finally, the third session, entitled "How to Study Successful Jewish Schools," first answers the question of what can be learned from both the general and Jewish education literature that bears on the question of successful schools, and based on that analysis, delves into how Jewish schools can be studied quantitatively.
