Toward a Definition of Tomorrow's Jewish Community Center

By Percy Abrams

Jewish Communal Service Association of North America (JCSA), December 1982

The Center movement started with small literary organizations designed to meet social and intellectual needs. These organizations evolved into building-centered institutions serving the whole community. The author predicts that the emphasis will shift towards the development of an ideology providing a generic base for Mass Jewish education. The Center will maintain its traditionally "neutral" - that is, non-denominational - stance. In Journal of Jewish Communal Service, 59:2.
