Israel Education: An Ironic Failure

By Peter Geffen

Jewish Family & Life (JFL Media), March 2008

In arguing for the importance of teaching about Israel, the author reminds us that no nation-state has or will reach perfection. If we ignore the realities and point to a self-fulfilling fantasy, we will endanger the very thing we seek to preserve. We need to create a Zionism for the 21st century that appreciates rather than denigrates the lives of Jews from four corners of the earth, including Israel.
