The author provides a series of alarming statistics about firearm injuries in the U.S. For example, firearms consistently rank second only to motor vehicle crashes as a cause of fatal injury in the U.S. In addition, he examines the costs of gun violence, including efforts to deter shootings or protect against them, which increases our individual health insurance rates. He examines strategies for reducing gun violence.
