Sh'ma's "Nishma" series features multiple authors responding to the same traditional Jewish text. (Nishma is laid out in imitation of a traditional page of Talmud, i.e. with the text in the middle and the commentaries in the margins.) In this issue, which focuses on Counting Jews, Nishma features four authors responding to Numbers 1:2: "Take up the head count of the entire Israelite community by their clans, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of names of every male, head by head.
