By Hanna Tiferet Siegel

Jewish Family & Life (JFL Media), September 2009

The author recounts the end of the life of her friend, who chose to participate in a new ritual practice during her struggle with cancer: weaving green tzitzit (ritual fringes) for herself and friends, meant to parallel the techeilet (blue) thread mentioned by the Torah, as a reminder to live harmoniously with the vulnerable earth.
