Book Review: Courage and Vision in Discussing Tolerance

By Marc Gopin

Jewish Family & Life (JFL Media), December 2004

Gopin reviews Modest Claims: Dialogues and Essays on Tolerance and Tradition by Adam Seligman. He applauds the writers and their approach to this topic: They are both respectful of religion and aware of its dangers, allowing a critical discussion on the coexistence, or lack thereof, of world religions in modern times. Their depth of thought, generosity of interest, and humility of engagement is, according to Gopin, an interesting paradigm for how the interfaith relationships can proceed at a much deeper level than have been attempted until now.
