The Power of Community to Comfort

By David Kraemer

CLAL: the National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership, October 12, 2001

In the aftermath of the World Trade Center attacks, the author writes that we have once again been given the opportunity to discover the power of our communities to guide us from profound grief to glimpses of genuine comfort. In this brief piece, he chronicles his own experience on September 11th, 2001, and discusses his community's response in the weeks following the attacks. Together as a community, he concludes, we have far more power than we do when alone.
