The American Jewish community seems adrift in a sea of uncertainty. The rampant assimilation, and the declining of its power both within the United States and among the Jews in the world, have shaken its self-confidence. The community must confront the fact that the very nature of Jewish identity in America is changing. How effectively it meets this crisis will determine the community's future.
