From Havurah to Havurot to What?

The founding of havurot, Jewish collectives oriented towards the needs and self-expression of their members, was a conscious attempt to bring about change in the religious American Jewish community by living that change. Today, havurot are encountering difficulties because they never developed any outreach or community organization and have become more of a social group.
